Any submitted information would be reviewed by MANRRS before printing. All material submitted will be used at MANRRS' discretion. The editorial committee requests that individuals submitting information for publication in The Network: MANRRS Today magazine follow these guidelines to help ensure consistency in format and to reduce the time needed for editing submissions.
- Submit information by the deadline published by the committee.
- Include the full name(s) of authors along with the entity they represent or their role in the Society (Chester Green, Undergraduate Student, Marion State College, Grand City, Tennessee)
- Use 10-point font.
- Edit information thoroughly prior to submitting. Don't depend solely on the computer's spell checker to catch all errors, e.g., spell checker does not catch when the writer intends to use "on" but instead writes "of."
-
Write articles and information in third person tense (he, she, they). Avoid first person tense (I, we, our) and second person tense (you) except in direct quotes, autobiographical sketches or other instances when using first or second person are more appropriate than third person.
-
The tense of the article should be consistent throughout the document (don't switch from third person to second person within the document).
- Pictures should be at least 300dpi (dots per inch). Please make sure that pictures are clear (not dark or fuzzy) and would reproduce well.
- When using acronyms or jargon, ensure that the meaning of the acronym is spelled out on first use and that the jargon is explained on first use.
- Avoid using abbreviations in the text.
- Include individuals' titles or roles on first use when referring to them in the text (John Wilson, Director of the Academy of Health Sciences at Herman University, Cedar Ridge, South Carolina, sponsored the trip.) On subsequent references, use only the person's title and last name (Dr. Wilson spoke to the group).
- The titles of MANRRS officers should be capitalized (President, Historian, etc.)
- Ensure that all names are spelled correctly (some individuals with "common" names might have a different spelling: Terri versus Terry versus Teri, or McNeal versus McNeil).
- Spell out numbers less than 10 and use the digits for numbers 10 and above.
- Don't abbreviate months of the year or days of the week.
- The acronym MANRRS is always written in ALL CAPS.
- Periods and commas ALWAYS go INSIDE of quotation marks. Colons and semicolons ALWAYS go OUTSIDE of quotations marks.
- When submitting pictures, make sure that a complete description of the picture is included:
- a. Include the full names of all persons pictured from left to right and front to back.
- b. If all persons in a group cannot be identified individually, then identify the full name of the group (MANRRS officers, specific chapter members, etc.).
- c. If the person or group is engaged in an activity, describe the activity.
